Oswaldo Guayasamín was born on 6 July 1919 in the city of Quito. He studied at Quito’s School of Fine Art and launched his first exhibition in 1942. During his career as a sculptor and painter, Oswaldo received many awards and enjoyed great recognition. He passed away at the good age of 79 in 1999, many years after founding Fundación Guayasamín.
