Is the ecuador dialect really different to spanish?
I want to learn some little phrases for when I go out there! Also is the accent really difficult to understand if you are used to european spanish?

castejano (I think that how you spell it) is a more of an educated type of spanish not like that dirty mexican s-hit you here on the street. that is why all ecuadorian people are very polite. it easy just don't use slang like the
f-ucken mexicans do!
oh or do you mean quechua! damn! I don't know that! that's and old language! my dad knows that. All our dads know that they teach it in schools over there it's there heratige!

Yeah that's a good question Sarah! I've been studying Spanish Spanish (as in not S.American!) for 6 years but I'm ****ting myself in case I step off the plane in couple of months and can't understand a think Ecuadorians say. Vini's right about the Mexican slang though. Watched "Y Tu Mama Tambien" and would barely have understood a thing if it wasn't for the subtitles! So does anyone know if I'll struggle badly only knowing European Spanish??

SPANISH IS SPANISH SAME PHRASES SAME DIALECT AND THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE SPAIN PEOPLE USE THE TH'S SOUND AND SOME S. AMERICAN DO, LIKE THE ARGENTINANS. AND THE MEXICANS LOOKS LIKE THERE SINING WHEN THEY TALK SO LIKE I SAID SPANISH IS SPANISH YOU WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM IN ECUADOR. BY THE WAY I WENT TO ECUADOR 4 YEARS AGO AND I LOVED IT. Dukesss..what are you talking about...so you are saying spanish is spanish in all Hispanic countries??....eeehgggg you are wrong....k..you may be partially right.. but there are a lot of differences in the the Spanish languages
