My situation is this, We have a young Ecuadorian girl (age 21)here in America illegally (no green card). She wants to marry my brother, but says an American wedding service in a Church is not enough, she must be married by a Judge first or it will not be legal in Ecuador! Can this be true??? Please help!! Any Attourneys out there? Ray

I'm marrying a man from ecuador as well. His lawyer says as long as we're legally married, church or not, we'll be fine and able to obtain his green card within two years. in addition, he's adopting my son and giving him his last name. Our lawyer says the more things we have together with our names on it the better we'll be when immigration interviews us. Getting married in the church is still a legal marriage. They will have to get a marriage license before the wedding ceremony. Good Luck!
