I just got back from Ecuador a short while ago and can not understand how prices for andean goods jump about three hundered percent. For example, in Ecuador, a hammock would cost maybe ten dollars but online you are asking for seventy.
What concerns me is that you are paying the indigenous, the makers of these crafts, a low pricefor their goods, selling these same goods at a ridiculously inflated price and basically ripping them off. |

Dear Katita,
The reason that we increase the prices is basically because we pay a highly price for the crafts as we demand for better quality, also we support some indigenous communities given them some percentage of all sales. Other reason is because we charge the shipping cost to the products, and as you now shipping is very expensive. We hope that this explanation satisfy your concern, take care of you ![]() The Ethnic Shop.com ------------------ [This message has been edited by ethnicshop (edited 28 June 2000).] |
