As you know i am spitz. The reason why i am interested in ecuador is this. My best friend lives there and travels back and forth (ecuador to usa) and keeps me updated on whats going on. I think you meant: are there GUERRILLAS in Ecuador? (Gorillas are a whole different thing, BIG monkeys which live somewhere else, in Africa, for instance).

As a matter of fact, I am an ecuadorian, who, differently from others currently writing in these forums, actually lives in Ecuador, most precisely in Guayaquil. I can tell you for sure, that THERE AREN´T ANY GUERRILLAS KILLING OR KIDNAPPING people in this country. We have had some problems in the border with Colombia, and in the towns which are near the border like Tulcán. But, I insist those problems have been seldom and only when colombian guerrillas pass our northern border.

As you see, you cannot generalize a problem as if it was something that is happening everywhere in this beautiful country, that is a huge mistake....It is like if I said: "Are there still terrorists in USA crashing planes everywhere, and killing everybody?" This latter was a mistake, and so was your question.

Hi spitz , JBF gave you a very good answer to your question . I was looking for your reply to my last message that I sent to you, but I never got one from you. I was going to tell you that Gorillas are not running around Ecuador killing people. As I told you before, my wife and I have been going there for 16 years and it is a very safe and beautiful little country and the people are some of the best people in the "World" !!! You said you had a "best" friend in Ecuador, if you are really worried about him, you can write to me and give me some details, such as where he was the last time you heard from him and maybe I can give you some informatiopn that will make you feel less worried and I am sure JBF will help you also, if you don't want to write to me, contact JBF.

I must not have been very clear. I have heard from my friend and i know he is doing well. I was just curious myself to hear other peoples opinions an the guerillas. I know it is a very peacefull country and i will soon go there. Sorry for not getting back to you on time i was very busy.
