I can relate in that I am travelling to Ecuador NEXT WEEK for three months. This is because my fiancee is there now and we have a house in Cuenca. So...he has been remodeling our house. Overall..this botanically diverse country is so rich in culture! As with any place..when you travel to different areas the dialect/accent is different. So, which areas do you plan to visit? As a travelor..the obvious..keep track of your money..and your belongings..do not be a naive travellor and get cheated by anything! Me and my fiancee love to go out to the clubs and dance all night..be concious however of your health in foods..as your system may not be used to certain things..if you fo to the open market..be careful of meat products thay you might purchase..I got ill at the end of my vacation...last time..but now I am better informed. Always keep your ID with you. Also get used to the roads...all I have to say is- driving is different. A lot of the cars a stick shifts......and as an American..honestly you will be "eyed". Do not be afraid to use your Spanish skills.
