Beresheet {41:1} It happened at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. {41:2} Behold, there came up out of the river seven cattle, well-favored and fat-fleshed, and they fed in the reed-grass. {41:3} Behold, seven other cattle came up after them out of the river, ill-favored and lean-fleshed, and stood by the other cattle on the brink of the river. {41:4} The ill-favored and lean-fleshed cattle ate up the seven well-favored and fat cattle. So Pharaoh awoke. {41:5} He slept and dreamed a second time: and, behold, seven ears of grain came up on one stalk, rank and good. {41:6} Behold, seven ears, thin and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them. {41:7} The thin ears swallowed up the seven rank and full ears. Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream. {41:8} It happened in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Mizrayim (Egypt), and all the wise men of it. Pharaoh told them his dream, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.

I truly believe in prophetic dreams, but I do not believe that all dreams are prophetic. All too often people attribute too much importance to their dreams.

Most dreams are simply life situations that are being played out during sleep, when the mind is uninhibited. They are real life thoughts or situations in fantasy form being performed in your sub-conscience mind. These types of dreams I believe have the same purpose a pressure relief valve has on a hot water tank. They clear the sub-conscience of the myriads of thoughts and bits of information that have been stored up in the brain. Dreams like this are necessary for our good mental health.

A whole industry has developed around the interpretation of dreams and many believers have been caught up the whirlwind. I believe the practice of interpreting dreams is part of the occult. So is there any wonder therefore, that occultist use this practice extensively to give people insight into their future or as indicators of life patterns. The practice of dream interpretation is in most cases demonic and dangerous and should be avoided by everyone, especially believers in Messiah Yeshua.

I have searched the Scriptures over and nowhere do I find the gift of interpretation of dreams being mentioned. Granted Yosef and Daniel were able to interpret dreams but in both cases the dreams they interpreted we dreamt by pagans. Nowhere in Scripture do we find anyone interpreting a dream for Elijah, Elisha, Kefa (Peter), Shaul (Paul) or any other person of G-d. These people were filled with the same spirit Yosef and Daniel were filled with. I believe they were able to interpret their own prophetic dreams or G-d Himself gave them the interpretation.

As a believer in the Messiah Yeshua you are filled with the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) the very same Ruach biblical heroes were filled with, interpreters are therefore unnecessary. Here is one of the functions of the Ruach HaKodesh as recorded in Scripture:

Yochanan (John) {14:26} But the Comforter, which is the Ruach HaKodesh, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

As a believer filled with the Spirit of G-d He will interpret prophetic dreams for you when and if you have them. I am of the opinion that G-d will not give you something that someone else will have to interpret for you. As a Spirit filled believer when He gives you a prophetic dream He will also give you the understanding of that dream. There is ample Scriptural references for this; here is just one:

Mattityahu (Matthew) {1:20} But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of HaShem appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Josef, son of David, fear not to take Miriam as your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Ruach HaKodesh. {1:21} And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name YESHUA: for he shall save his people from their sins. {1:22} Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the L-rd by the prophet, saying, {1:23} Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, G-d with us. {1:24} Then Josef being raised from sleep did as the angel of the HaShem had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

Conclusion: If you have a prophetic dream you will either understand it outright or G-d will give you the interpretation directly. If you do not understand your dream or if G-d does not give you the interpretation, do not, I repeat do not seek out a an interpreter of dreams. The dream you had was more than likely of the regular "relief valve" variety. Seeking out an interpretation will place be placing yourself in the hands of the occult.

Cool DREAMS

I understand that God uses man's capacity to dream. But over the history of mankind it seems this is very rare. What is more common is God's revelation to every man through His Word.

That being considered, I will focus most of my attention to what the words of God's Word tell me - a lifelong pursuit daily.

When I master the clear declarations of what God hath said, perhaps I will become a little more focused on such things as dreams.

There have been many who have gone down the wrong path, having followed the leading of human emotions, dreams, human advice without checking the validity of such against the clear declarations of what God has said in His Word.

So I'll be busy burning the midnight oil in a very practical way: via normative rules of language, context and logic will I examine the 66 books of the Bible in English, Greek and Hebrew checking my interpretation against that of some whom I have learned to trust. Come to my own prayerful conclusion and obey what I have learned to the best of my capacity as led by the Holy Spirit.

Amen?
