One of the main advantages of the Ecuadorian Amazon is the easy access. Just in a few hours you can go from the highlands to the jungle. The Amazon of Ecuador is very small compared with the Brazilian Amazon; however, in this exuberant and dense vegetation you will find a very good amount of flora and fauna species. Ecuador is home of the largest diversity of the world in animals and plants per square km. The species of amphibians and butterflies have put Ecuador in the third and fifth places worldwide. Ecuador has some good extension of the Amazon as Reserves that has helped to conserve the wildlife as pristine as possible. Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve is a unique place, home for reptiles and pink dolphins. Limonchocha Biological Reserve is home for the black caiman. Sumaco-Napo Galeras National Park and Yasuni National Park have become Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
