Quito, Ecuador: Teleferico - "El telefériqo"

El telefériqo (from teleférico and Quito) is a gondola lift in Quito, Ecuador, running from the edge of the city centre up the east side of Pichincha Volcano to a lookout known as Cruz Loma. It is one of the highest aerial lifts in the world, rising from 2950 metres (8850 ft) to 4100 metres (13400 ft). The ascent takes 40 minutes, travelling some 2500 linear metres. The telefériqo opened in July 2005. The visitor centre at the base includes the Vulqano Park amusement park and food court.
