While all of the islands are of volcanic origin, South Plazas has had some time to develop various kinds of plant life and is home to many kinds of lizards, both marine and land iguana, sea lions, and many kinds of birds. The rocky cliffs on the the island provides great roosting places for many of the birds and areas for sea lions to bask in the sun.
