You walk across a plank to get to one of the many steep staircases in the basilica to get to a tower that provides an amazing panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and homes. You can even climb up to the highest point in the clock towers!

Quito's La Basilica from the Top Tower Part I [01:17]

I (at least temporarily) conquer my fear of heights and walk across a wild rickety "bridge" that is built into the top of the cathedral ceiling. Then I climb three very steep ladders to get to the top of the tower in the Quito Basilica. This is the most bizarre cathedral I have ever been to by far. Incredible views though! A Quito 'must see'!
