While touring Ecuador (near Quito) in May of 2005 with MacEwan in Edmonton, Alberta. we visited a local school Jose of Collaqui School in Collaqui. MacEwan donated money for the purchase of traditional attire as part of the Nuestra Identidad Project (to educate youth about traditional culture and restore personal and community values). As a display of their gratitute, they performed a traditional dance for us.

Pujili Headdress [07:09]
The Corpus Christi celebration in Pujili, high in the Andes of Ecuador, is famous for its elaborate costumes. Costume maker Jose Ignacio Criollo creates amazing headdresses for the festival using recycled object. His work combines tradition with innovation. This video was made for the Recycled: Re-Seen exhibit at the Museum of International Folk Art.
