Approaching Santa Fe Island Galapagos [11:28]
On our first full day in the Galapagos our group traveled to Santa Fe Island. Our approach by small water craft was full of excitement as we were able to see and photograph much of the varied animal life that inhabits the Galapagos Islands. Our eyes were filled with sights of Seal Lions, crabs, Marine Iguanas, Blue-Footed Boobies, Sea Gulls, forests of Cactus Tree and various other life forms.

Bartolome Island in the Galapagos [06:41]
A visit to Bartolome Island, one of several islands in the Galapagos Islands National Park, Ecuador, South America. Bartolome is a young island of volcanic origin with a very rocky surface and limited plant and animal life. This island was used for some of the scenes in the Russel Crowe movie "Master & Commander". We were told the main characters never visited the island and used Green Screen technology to make it appear as if they were on the island. The board walk from the landing to the top included about 356 steps with a bit of huffing and puffing to get a great view of the area. Blue-Footed Boobies, pelicans, and small penguins could be seen along with sea lions and red crabs.

"Isabela and a Wicked Volcano" Claraz8's photos around Isabela, Ecuador [02:38]
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Isabela, Ecuador by TravelPod blogger Claraz8 titled "Isabela and a Wicked Volcano" Claraz8's travel blog entry: "Today we had breakfast at the hotel and then rode another bumpy boat ride to our next destination, Isabella Island. It took about 2 ½ hours, again by small boat with two large motors.. Isabella Island only has about 2300 inhabitants, and it feels really exotic. As we came in we saw Pinguinos (Penguins) sitting atop black lava rock, and old fishing boats. The town itself is on the beach and all the roads are wide, made of hard packed dirt. They sprayed our hands with disinfectant again when we got off the boat and as always checked all our bags. We arrived to a quaint little hotel and then met right away for our last day of snorkeling. I have to say though, it was the best! A Panga (water taxi) took us to the first part of our day, which was a hike through the black lava to where the tiburons (sharks) rest before they go out to sea and start feeding. The landscape was gorgeous with the black lava rocks, green mangrove and aqua sea all around. When we got to where the sharks were it was incredible. There must have been about 10 white-tip sharks circling in a narrow little channel right below us. Sea iguanas covered the walls so that when you got close the wall seemed to come alive; red crabs scrabbled their way along near the waters edge. We took video and pictures but I don't think anything could do it ...
