BALLET FOLCLÓRICO NACIONAL JACCHIGUA [04:57]
"Historia cultural recopilada en la convivencia diaria, de ir por los chaquiñanes, leyendo los troncos de los árboles, las flores silvestres, durmiendo en la mitad de un pajonal, comiendo mellocos, ocas, tostado, chahuarmishque, recopilando texturas y colores, compartiendo el sol, las aguas y el viento".... rafael camino Jacchigua is Ecuador´s culture, compiled from daily experiences along years of walking the mountains paths, reading the trunks of the trees and the wild flowers, sleeping among the hay, tasting the crops of high altitudes, drinking "chahuarmishque" from de agaves; compiling textures and colors, sharing the sun, the waters and the wind..... rafael camino

Carnaval 2011 - Baños, Ecuador - The whole town erupts into a giant water balloon fight! [02:00]
On the last day of Carnival the whole town of Baños erupts into a water balloon fight along with pouring buckets of water on top of the heads of unsuspecting passer byes. I must have lobbed more than 150 water balloons during the day; my arm is killing me right now! We all had lots of fun, but I especially enjoyed Carnival because it was my first time and nothing spells FUN like a direct hit on somebody's noggin from 50 yards away.

Back on the continent - Guayaquil, Ecuador ( guayaquil; ecuador; chapel; hill) [02:37]

See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com Back on the continent "I landed in Guayaquil on monday afternoon, and directly met up with Mauricio. We went to his place, where Amit had arrived the day before, and wher were also staying two girls from Estonia. It was a real pleasure to see Mauricio again, along with his familly. His German friend Clemence was staying there as well, and we had a kind of a potluck party, with Israleli hummus and shawarwa, French-made guacamole, Ecuadorian wine, and an Estonian desert (with a directly imported liquor, damn I forgot the name). Easily giving up to pressure by Jonathan and Mauricio's mum, I made a huge mousse au chocolat, that we ate the next day. I ****ed up the chantilly (whipped cream?), but nobody noticed and ate either in silence or with loud "mmmmm", or both in fact. Mauricio and Clemence still had classes and exams coming up, so I took the girl to my favourite almuerzo place, where they serve you a 2 course meal with drink at 1.5 dollars, they could not believe it. Hey, this is South America: you can eat like at home for the same price as at home, or just sit anywhere for a good cheap meal. Same for accomodation, if you are not too afraid of cold water, it can stay reasonable! I had to warn them though, that their budget of 500 usd a month would not take them very far from the border once they crossed into Chile ...

Monta - Montanita, Ecuador (touristic places in ecuador;montañita, weather montanita june) [01:41]
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow video of a travel blog to Montanita, Ecuador by TravelPod blogger Mariaclement. See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com Monta "After the cold weather of the Andes we decided to go to the pacific coast and enjoy for some days the Ecuadorian beaches. We arrived at Montañita, a very turistic village, on Saturday night, so you can imagine the scene, us with the big backpacks, tired and hungry after 11 hours in the bus, and the whole village partying, drunk and screaming. Afortunatly we found a place to rest far from the centre. Even though Clem thought it was an artificial and too turistic place, I liked it (well just for a couple of days) with its small wooden houses and its beatiful beach. One of the days, we took a boat to go to see the whales (between mid-june and mid-september they go to warmer coasts to have babys). It was quite impresive! Aunque a ...
