Las tradiciones indígenas se viven dentro de las comunidades, pero también se recrean en algunas de las festividades más importantes del departamento. De los dos municipios del departamento destacamos el municipio de Puerto Nariño; las cuales celebran la Semana Santa y las fiestas de aniversario como el 1 de abril. Allí mismo se realizan las Olimpiadas Indígenas, en noviembre, el Día del Campesino, en junio, y el Festival de Danza, Cuento y Murga, en diciembre. Para el caso del municipio de Leticia destacamos el Festival de la Confraternidad Amazonica, un lugar en donde las fronteras se desvanecen y tres países comparten economía y costumbres, donde la diversidad y la similitud entre países amazónicos cuenta con un encuentro del 15 al 20 de julio de cada año. En ese lapso se busca la integración cultural, deportiva, institucional y económica entre las naciones amazónicas que confluyen en Leticia: Colombia, Brasil y Perú. Son cinco días de esparcimiento, donde el arte, la etnocultura, las tradiciones, las costumbres, las vivencias, las experiencias, la belleza femenina, el talento, el deporte y la gastronomía constituyen el espectáculo central. Festival de la Confraternidad Amazonica: Leticia - Colombia [01:21]
Este festival nacido en 1987, se celebra en el mes de julio iniciando el 15 y terminando el 20 día de la independencia. En este festival internacional que tiene su sede en Leticia, participan los países de la Cuenca Amazónica Brasil y Perú y se proyecta que proximamente entre a participar en este evento paises como Bolivia, Venezuela y Ecuador. En él se promueve la unión entorno a la identidad amazónica y todo su gran repertorio cultural, principalmente indígena, se realizan muestras gastronómicas, competencias deportivas y noches de folclor. El día 20 de julio se cierra el festival con el reinado internacional, donde cada país del trapecio amazónico, presenta una candidata que muestra lo representativo de su región. The Amazon River in South America is the second longest in the world and by far the largest by waterflow with an average discharge greater than the next seven largest rivers combined (not including Madeira and Rio Negro, which are tributaries of the Amazon). The Amazon, which has the largest drainage basin in the world, about 7050000 square kilometres (2720000 sq mi), accounts for approximately one-fifth of the world's total river flow. In its upper stretches, above the confluence of the Negro River, the Amazon is called Solimões in Brazil; however, in Peru, Colombia and Ecuador, as well as the rest of the Spanish-speaking world, the river is generally called the Amazon downstream from the confluence of the Marañón and Ucayali rivers in Peru. The Ucayali-Apurímac river system is considered the main source of the Amazon. The width of the Amazon varies between 1.6 and 10 kilometres (1.0 and 6.2 mi) at low stage, but expands during the wet season to 48 kilometres (30 mi) or more. The river enters the Atlantic Ocean in a broad estuary about 240 kilometres (150 mi) wide. The mouth of the main stem is 80 kilometres (50 mi).[5] Because of its vast dimensions, it is sometimes called The River Sea.
