During our 8 Day Ecuador Tour we spent three days at a Resort on the Napo River in the Amazon jungle. We were transported to the resort by large motorized canoes. The resort was beautiful and located on a bluff overlooking the Napo River. During our time there we were given several opportunities to explore the jungle and what it had to offer. We spent some time with a Quechua Indian family that lived on an island in the Napo River. We all enjoyed our time at and around the resort.

LUCÍA SALAMEA (Directora ONU mujeres, Región Andina) Lucía Salamea nos habla durante su intervención de las oportunidades y desafíos que se les presentan a las mujeres en la industria del turismo. Nos cuenta la importancia que tiene el apoyo de organizaciones como la OMT para desarrollar actividades destinadas a mantener la conciencia sobre las oportunidades que el turismo puede ofrecer a las mujeres. Además, resalta la necesidad de crear marcos de política apropiada para promover y fortalecer el empoderamiento de las mujeres en el mundo del turismo. Lucía Salamea expone también algunos de los resultados recopilados en el "Informe Mundial sobre las Mujeres en el Turismo 2010", herramienta primordial para evaluar la representación de la mujer en el sector, y cuya finalidad es aportar la información necesaria para alcanzar las metas fijadas en vistas a la igualdad de género.
