Ecuador Mission trip 2012 [01:10]
It's almost the beginning of a new year and we are starting off strong and big for the Ecuador mission's trip. We are so excited about the opportunity of being able to serve and minister overseas in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Ecuador is a city living in poverty and in need of a Savior. We will be working with family and children who need medical help due to Aids and we will provide them with medical resources with our project called "I am Somebody" . You can be a part in changing someone's life for Christ maybe with just your smile or your hugs can show these families Christ love through you. Our trip will be July 30- August 8, 2012. Improving Livelihoods by Conserving Mangroves [06:29]
More than 900 families in Ecuador depend on crabbing in the mangroves of the Gulf of Guayaquil. These same mangroves mitigate global warming and contribute to global carbon sequestration efforts. The Gulf is one of six sites where the USAID Sustainable Forests and Coasts project is conserving biodiversity and protecting natural resources from depletion. In this case, the project works with the Ministry of the Environment and crabbing communities to protect the $60 million in crabbing related activities while preventing mangrove deforestation. See how over 60000 hectares are being protected as well as how the project is helping communities receive a higher price for their crab meat sales.
