kapawi Ecolodge [06:32]
Kapawi Ecolodge is situated deep in the nearly two million acres of the Achuar people's traditional territory near the confluence of the Pastaza and Capahuari Rivers-the former a major, the latter a minor tributary of the Amazon-near the border between Ecuador and Peru. This area is one of the most remote and well-protected parts of the western Amazon Basin. It is a remote and pristine region, untouched by logging, mining or petroleum extraction. The closest road is a ten-day walk from the lodge. The rivers are not navigable to the lodge from the nearest outposts of civilization. Kapawi is accessible only by air. The entrance to the lodge and to Achuar territory, flying in a small plane over the uninterrupted vastness of green triple-canopy rainforest, is one of the unique highlights a visit to Kapawi provides.

Improving Livelihoods by Conserving Mangroves [06:29]
More than 900 families in Ecuador depend on crabbing in the mangroves of the Gulf of Guayaquil. These same mangroves mitigate global warming and contribute to global carbon sequestration efforts. The Gulf is one of six sites where the USAID Sustainable Forests and Coasts project is conserving biodiversity and protecting natural resources from depletion. In this case, the project works with the Ministry of the Environment and crabbing communities to protect the $60 million in crabbing related activities while preventing mangrove deforestation. See how over 60000 hectares are being protected as well as how the project is helping communities receive a higher price for their crab meat sales.

Free food and drinks is offered at the festival, becasue all of those people are farmers and traders who organize this celebration by themselves. It is a social event for celebrating many things, including the holly mountain peaks and the protected lake. This cool video was created by epSos.de in Cuicocha of Ecuador. The indigenous people of the Americas are the original inhabitants of North and South America. They are often also referred to as Native Americans, Indios or latinos. Hispanic and Latino Americans are Americans with origins in the Hispanic countries of Latin America or in Spain. Latino Americans are very racially diverse as a result form an ethnic category, rather than a race. They are composed of numerous, distinct tribes, states, and ethnic groups, many of which survive as intact political communities. Indigenous peoples in Ecuador are the groups of people who were present in what became the South American nation of Ecuador when Europeans arrived. Otavalo, capital of Otavalo Canton, is a largely indigenous town in the Imbabura Province of Ecuador.
