Cotacachi - a town on the move [00:42]
CotacachiRealEstate.co presents a short capsule of current Cotacachi with a few slides of this quaint town in the highlands of Ecuador. Tucked away in the Northern part of Ecuador is Cotacachi. Located in a valley and surrounded by the Andes Mountains and two dormant volcanos. Cotacachi is a city of approximately 10000 people consisting of Expats, Indigenous and Mestizos. The elevation is approximately 8000 feet above sea level. Cotacachi is known as the leather village of Ecuador. Along our main street you will find many leather shops, banks, restaurants. Just off the main street is San Francisco Park with many outdoor vendors. Our largest park hosts a beautiful cathedral. Cotacachi is a progressive city. Many of the older buildings are being remodeled. New construction is limited to insure adequate water, sewer and electric. Maintaining the ecology is high on the list. Our new International Airport opened on February 20th. Location will eliminate going through Quito our Capitol to reach Cotacachi and our neighboring cities. Travel will be much easier to the Northern part of Ecuador for residents and visitors alike. Ecuador has been named once again as the Number 1 city for retirement by International Living. A recent conference in Quito had a participation of over 450 people. The popularity of this unique mountain town has increased and it has become a great place for retirement, a relaxing vacation or business ventures and investment. Hot spring - Papallacta, Ecuador, South America [01:38]
Papallacta is only 1 1/2 hour (55 km) away from Quito, next to Antisana stratovolcano. On the way up to hot springs, we see a spectacular view of the paramo. The spa resort called "Las Termas de Papallacta", offers 8 thermal pools with water temperature from 30 to 45°C and 3 cold water pools with temperature of 2°C.. Papallacta is located at 3 300 meters. On a day without clouds, 5704 metres Antisana stratovolcano is visible; a majestic sight from hot water pool. Open everyday from 6:00 to 21:00 How to get there? By bus take the Quito-Baeza road, than take a 1/2 h walk or take a local taxi. For more information or to reserve lodging call Termas de Papallacta. Fresh trouts from paramo lakes are served in the local restaurants. Personally, I consider this resort one of the nicest. One should never visit Ecuador without bathing in the hot pools of Termas de Papallacta.
