My time in Ecuador - 2010 [06:05]
This is montage of some of the pictures and video I captured during my time in my little corner of Canar, Ecuador. There pictures of the cathedrals of Biblian, Azogues, Cuenca, and Tambo. Some footage from a car race, and 4x4 rally, and a harvest parade. There are also some photos of the ruins at Ingapirca, including the colossal Inca face carved into the side of a cliff; and the rest of the images are of the general scenery, scapes, and foliage I just happened to take. The song is Na Yachanichu by the folkloric Ecuadorian band Imbaya. Enjoy. I do not own the song, only the images.

Market of Otavalo, Ecuador [06:35]
Otavalo is famous for its textiles. The Saturday market shows the colourful fabrics. Tourism has become the town's main industry and as a result there are many more hotels, hostels, and tour operators than other similarly sized Ecuadorian towns, such as nearby Cayambe. Cotacachi, the center of Ecuador's leather industry, is known for its polished calf skins. Otavaleña women traditionally wear distinctive white embroidered blouses, with flared lace sleeves, and black or dark over skirts, with cream or white under skirts. Long hair is tied back with a 3cm band of woven multi coloured material, often matching the band which is wound several times round their waists. They usually have many strings of gold beads around their necks, and matching tightly wound long strings of coral beads around each wrist. Men wear white trousers, and dark blue ponchos. Otavalo is also known for its Inca-influenced traditional music and musicians. There are many musical groups currently traveling around the world promoting Inca music (sometimes known as Andean New Age). This style of music has had notable commercial success worldwide.
