Departures S3E7 : Ecuador [46:13]
The guys' adventure begins by zip lining across jungle canopy, rappelling down waterfalls and bungee jumping off a city bridge. They dive with sharks off the Galapagos Islands, and realize the human impact on animals there. On the mainland, they stumble upon the Intiraymi festival, where celebrations are contrasted by near-riots between conflicting tribes. Next, they venture into the Amazon to find the Hourani tribe, and arrive the day of the Chief's father's funeral. Attending the ceremony, they learn how the tribes are fighting to keep their traditions alive and protect their land.

Of the two municipalities in the department emphasize the municipality of Puerto Nariño, which celebrate Easter and anniversary parties as April 1. Right there Indian Olympics are held in November, the Peasants Day in June, and the Festival of Dance, Carol and Murga, in December. To the municipality of Leticia highlight the Festival of the Fellowship Amazon, a place where boundaries fade and three countries share economic and customs, where diversity and similarity among Amazonian countries have a meeting from 15 to 20 July each year. During that time looking for the cultural, sports, institutional and economic cooperation among the nations that come together in Leticia Amazon: Colombia, Brazil and Peru. Five days of leisure, where art, ethnocultural, traditions, customs, experiences, experiences, female beauty, talent, sport and gastronomy are the main show. In recent nights, each country has available a day to show their folklore. This annual event confirms the unity of peoples, where borders do not count the hours of entertainment and joy. New Year's Eve Ecuador [01:10]
At midnight on New Year's eve, effigies made of stuffed dummies w/ masks or paper mache are burned. The effigies symbolize an situation or idea or person that you despise and wish to get rid of in the new year. Here, an entire Smurf village is about to go down in flames in Cuenca, Ecuador. And I have to agree... who doesn't hate The Smurfs?
