Travel to San Pablo Del Lago in Ecuador, Cities, Travel Destinations

San Pablo del Lago is a tranquil little village located near the San Pablo Lake. The surrounding water, mountains and volcano make for some breath-taking scenery. While the village itself is small and quiet, the surrounding area is filled with some amazing lodges, hotels and haciendas. Besides being an incredibly relaxing place to go, there are many recreational activities that can be enjoyed in the area.

The Laguna de San Pablo or San Pablo Lake is incredibly beautiful and the surroundings areas are quite fertile and green. You can hike up the Imbabura Volcano, mountain bike some mountain trails, take short walks along the lake shore or even try your hand at riding horses. Some of the lodges offer facilities such as windsurfing boards, kayaks, squash courts, swimming pools and motor boats for tours.

The Hostiera Jatun Cocha is one of the better places to head if you intend to partake in water sports, though the Puerto Lago Country Inn offers boat tours on the lake. Otherwise, the Hacienda Cusín is highly recommended. Many of the buildings here date back to the 17th century and besides numerous activities the hacienda also boasts beautiful gardens where you can relax between activities. There is also a library. It is somewhat up market though, so if you are on a budget you might try looking elsewhere. The Cabañas del Lago is yet another option and is located on the north eastern side of the lake.

One of the best aspects of San Pablo del Lago is its proximity to other tourist spots. This means that you can enjoy the comforts of top quality accommodation in exquisite settings, but still enjoy seeing the smaller towns and villages that you might not want to stay in. One example is the Otavalo market in nearby Otavalo; many people stay here over the weekend just to visit the market. Other places you might want to enjoy an excursion to are the Andes, San Marco Lake the Inca temple at San Augustin and the Cotopaxi National Park.

San Pablo del Lago is truly a wonderful place to relax and unwind surrounded by the majestic beauty of the mountains and the serene tranquility of the lake. Friendly faces and helpful locals only add to your enjoyment. A visit to this sleepy town and the surrounding areas will soon have you booking your next stay.
